Sale of Christmas Trees

Starting Tuesday, December 1st 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Facilities Management 
will be bringing Fraser Fir Trees down from Skylark to sell.  The 
only sizes we have are 6, 7 and 8 feet.  The price is $30.00 each.  
We will bring a load down and then when we sell those, we will get 
another load.  This will continue M-F throught December 18th or 
until the trees are all sold. This will take place at Trailer B 
located at the Maintenance Building.  Skylark Farms will open two 
weekends only if a person wants to go and cut their own tree - 
December 5th and 6th and December 12th and 13th.  The hours are 
Saturday 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sunday 12 noon - 4 p.m.

Residence Halls Closed for Winter Break

The residence halls will close on Saturday, December 19 and re-open on
Saturday, January 9. All residents are expected to leave campus within
24 hours after their last exam. Please be sure to lock your door, and
enjoy your break!

Holiday Open House, Tree Lighting & Children's Acitivties

Bring the family out to the Holiday Open House, Tree Lighting & 
Children's Activities on Friday, December 4, 2009. 

The event will begin with festive caroling and the lighting of the tree 
on the Lee House Lawn at 6 PM.

After the lighting of the tree, head over to the Elrod Commons for food, 
music, and holiday cheer.  There will be games and other activities for 
the children.  The event ends at 8 PM.

Davis 100 Projects for Peace - $10,000 grants

The Katherine Wasserman Davis Projects for Peace is now considering 
proposals for summer 2010. One hundred $10,000 grants are available 
to students from select universities who wish to take on a 'Project 
for Peace'. Four W&L students have received this grant over the last 
3 years.Their projects included setting up a language lab in 
Argentina, setting up a community kitchen in Sri Lanka, establishing 
a library in Rwanda, and working with a women's microenterprise group 
in Peru. Proposals are due January 15, 2010 to the Center for

Glasgow Christmas Parade

The Glasgow Lifesaving and First Aid Crew will be having their 
annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, December 6 beginning at 4:00pm.  
Lineup begins at 3:00pm on 10th Street and Rockbridge Road (beside 
the car wash/across from the Fire Department).  Post parade 
activities include:  Santa, Refreshments, and Awards Presentation at 
the squad building on McCulloch Street.  If your church/organization 
is scheduled to participate in the Lexington and/or Buena Vista 
parade(s), keep your entry intact and join us as we celebrate "The 
Wonder of Christmas".  Larry Spangler, Parade Coordinator (540-258-

of-a-kind holiday arrangements made from fresh greens by the 
Lexington Garden Club. For more info re: designs, sizes and prices, 
contact Lynn Leech (lrleech@comcast.net).  Orders must be received 
by Dec. 1 for Dec. 5, Dec. 12 or Dec. 15 delivery to any local 
address.

All proceeds go toward supporting community projects, including the 
hanging baskets in downtown Lexington, sponsoring students at 
Boxerwood and the Nature Camp, therapeutic gardening at the Buena 
Vista Senior Center and more.

House Mountain Group concert to support Meals on Wheels

Enjoy an evening of music in support of Meals on Wheels on Fri., 
Dec. 4 with a rare public appearance of the House Mountain Group. 
The concert will feature special guest Jim Connor of The Kingston 
Trio. 

Thanks to anonymous sponsors, 100 percent of ticket proceeds will 
benefit Meals on Wheels.

The show starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at the American Legion 
(1953 Magnolia Ave. in Buena Vista). Tickets are $10 and are 
available in advance at Uncorked Wine Shop, Andre Studio, and the 
Maury River Senior Center, or at the door.

Free converted player piano

Free:  Upright piano, an old converted dark-brown player piano with
great full and sharp sound, but some ‎chipped keys, needs tuning.  You
will have to move it from our house.  I moved it two years ago ‎by
renting a truck and a piano dolly and getting the help of two other
people.  You can drive a ‎truck close to the basement door where the
